Slate and Cream Modern 1600 × 2560 Kindle eBook Cover
1600 × 2560 px Kindle eBook cover — KDP's own recommended size and its 1 : 1.6 ratio. The photograph is a band across the top 45%%, not a full-height image, because every shared photo here is 1350 px on its short side and a full-height placement would be upscaled. A band is sharp; a stretch is not.

What you get when you open it
The template opens in the studio as a 1-page document at 1600 × 2560 px, with the trim, the margins and the 72 DPI target already set. 6 elements are on it and every one is separate: 3 of them are live text you retype rather than artwork you work around, and 1 are photographs you can swap for your own.
The safe margin is 1.55556 in top, 1.55556 in bottom, 1.55556 in left, 1.55556 in right. Nothing you want to keep should cross it.

How printing works
Open any of these and it is already the right size. Bleed, margins and trim are set, and there is no watermark on anything you export — on any plan, ever.
